CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

St. Jude Children's Home is at the forefront of caring for children with special needs in Northern Uganda. Many of these children were forgotten and left uncared for at one time, but they are now thriving and receiving services because of your help.

The clinic at St. Jude offers a variety of services such as in-patient for students with special needs living in St. Jude Children's home, out-patient for children with disabilities living in the community, and intensive rehabilitation services for children with disabilities and their families living in surrounding communities requiring a defined period of treatment.

Since March 2020, the clinic has faced new challenges caused by the pandemic. Because of the extended lockdown in Uganda and restrictions on transportation, many patients stopped receiving treatment. The staff at the clinic worked hard to adapt to this new way of life to continue serving patients who desperately need care. They now have access to a car for follow-up visits, and some check-ups can be done over the phone.

St. Jude’s Clinic currently cares for around 250 children, 25 of whom live at St. Jude, and the majority living within the community. The number of patients who come to the clinic's rehabilitation team for observation has increased due to the inadequate availability of rehabilitation services elsewhere in the area.

Your donation to Social Promise ensures that the dedicated staff at the St. Jude Clinic can continue to provide these life-saving services to children with disabilities and their families. Thank you for your good work.
